Sciatica

One way to prevent future back and leg pain problems is to regularly exercise your back muscles and keep yourself healthy by eating properly.

While it may sound odd to someone dealing with back pain, sciatica exercises can be one of the best treatments that you can do to recover. This is because if you spend too much time in bed or resting the muscles of your back you can really weaken your back muscles further and make the pain worse.

Unfortunately many people overlook core exercises designed to increase the strength of your trunk muscles so that your back is as strong and limber as it can be, when in reality that should be their number one priority. The reality is that many spinal conditions can be linked to back muscles that are unable to properly support the spine and neck.

This is why sciatica exercises are very vital for the health of your spine. When flare up’s occur patients who regularly engage in a exercise routine that includes core muscle workouts and stretches find it is much simpler for them to recover.
There are many conditions that cause sciatica so it is always best to see a doctor so that you can correctly be correctly diagnosed and go on to the exercises for sciatica that will benefit you the most.

Sciatica Exercises

To be effective in the treatment of sciatica this is something that will have to become a regular routine for you. You must reckon of this as a lifestyle change and it must be something that you will keep doing for years to come.

The following exercises help to build a strong core but are also useful in exercising the whole body:
* Water Exercises, this would be a combination of aerobic exercises and water. It is very useful for those with joint and muscle problems because it is very low impact. This is also a very well loved way of exercising if you are recovering from an injury or surgery. For many people being in the water is fun and they don’t even see it as exercise. Water exercises are also excellent for those who are overweight or elderly

* Pilates or Yoga, these exercises help to increase your strength, flexibility and range of motion in your whole body. A excellent thing about these two forms of exercise is there are varying degrees of difficulty; it is not something that you will eventually have to go on from due to it not being challenging anymore

* Exercise ball, the benefits of working out with a ball are that your body responds to the instability of the ball trying at all times to remain balanced which engages more of your muscles. An exercise ball is very useful in working those core body muscles and it is also something that is inexpensive and can be done at home

* Sciatica stretches and exercises, depending on your underlying condition your doctor or physical therapist will advise on the best way to stretch out your muscles and perform exercises that work the areas of your body that need it the most

*Note* Please remember before starting any new exercise program consult with your doctor so as not to injure yourself.
